Imperial wedding at Bellum Aeternus III

[Notice to the people of Darkon from the House of Imperial Majesty Whisper Everhate. It is decreed that all people and nations in the realm are commanded to attend the royal wedding of his Imperial Majesty Whisper Everhate to Dame Niko of Ched Nasad to be held during the first night of the gathering...

Re: Notification from the King

Translation: I'm going to bully my way to a title when I have overwhelming forces and can't win the title in honorable 1:1 combat. Now that those odds aren't in my favor by whatever reason, I'm going to take my ball and go home. Such a noble figure.

Re: Blocking Arrows with Weapons

Inox said "More and more, I am coming around to the idea that arrows should be considered to pass through weapons." Inox, Do it. I will cosign on that. Cuts out the intentional and unintentional bs. If it hits a weapon, pretend it wasnt there and take a hit of where the trajectory would ha...

Re: Blocking Arrows with Weapons

I've always played with this mindset in regards to archers.
1. The only thing that stops an arrow is a shield or your body. (If monk, then weapons, hands or feet)
2. If my weapon wasn't there, would the arrow hit me?

Re: multi piece core

That core will dubiously be legal. I'll list the issues here. 1. stability. How will these cores be fixed to the main central core? How will it be secured so stability is achieved? How will that be safe enough not to break on a good swing? 2. practicality. a blade with 12-14 of surface area ( i.e. b...

Re: A salute to Roleplay

LOL. I think Moot or BA ran that campout. I had turtle guards who couldnt be injured in the back, and was told to "just die" at some point cause I was mouth raping much face. Laconia even had someone try to infiltrate my turtle guard ranks. I miss that chair. I remember infiltrating the T...

What is wrong with Darkon?

I havent been out in a whiles, but am I wrong to hear that no countries have stepped up to host campouts this year? That's a pretty sad state of affairs considering that we only have 4 (Plus Bellum) of them this year.

What happened so that noone wants to pony up to run a campout?

Re: Arrows

Not knowing who you are or what unit you are with, Darkon has a pretty long wait period for new archers (10 events) if I remember correctly. Assuming that you are past that time. You could feasibly make an ensolite tipped arrow with at least 1.5" of tip and it might pass. Using Unifoam which is...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

So what exactly is the problem with fireball? Is it AOE? Is it speed of spellcasting, or rate? Is it the death effect? What are we trying to cause? To decrease the the targets fighting ability without killing them? Is the problem with offensive spellcasting the fact that it takes out too many people...

Hardcell only spears.

With the advances in stabbing tip construction and the use of Ensolite to make safer stabbing tips for swords. I was wondering what the thoughts are now in regards to making a hardcell only spear. Same basic construction of a base, but instead of that last layer being open cell, we switch that with ...

Re: ordering supplies from edhellen

I have some Warlord gear, been using them for years. You have to mod them slightly to get it to work for Darkon, but after about 15 minutes worth of work, they should be fine. The foam that Warlord uses is tough stuff and is comparable to the foam that Edhellen uses.

Re: Leather Scale for sale

Your work looks great. On an aside, How come our rules don't allow for one layering of leather? In this instance, his scales are all 8 ounce and are doubled up. In order for these scales to be considered hide armor then the person would have to wear almost twice as much leather.

Re: Sword Balancing

Lets tackle this from another angle. What exactly are you planning to attach to a core for your counterweighting needs? You can add layers of whatever you want to add weight and size to the core. Some have done solder, nails, tape, rope, wooden dowels. Most fighters tend to have weapons that are pro...

Re: Sword Balancing

The best usual counterweight to use is duct tape. Mind you, you will use a lot of duct tape to do this. One warning, making a historically weighted longsword will make for a relatively slow Foam fighting weapon. Also many real sword techniques do not work when translated to foam. Good luck to you.

Re: New Amor System - Play Test Comments

My beef against this ac system is that it hurts the classes with lower AC ratings, and it also affects weapon combinations that are openly viable. When you face up against another person, you have to take into account skill, class skills, armor, range, weapon type, shield type, terrain and formation...

Re: The Northern Kingdoms

Not to take this on a tangent, but..... We don't need new rules for every situation that occurs. The combining of countries that occurred is a great role playing venture, one that helps enrich the game. More of this stuff needs to happen. There was a time long ago when Darkon had a lot of gaps and l...

Re: March Campout Info...

Sounds like you are out of luck Ferk. The people who were in positions are locked in to that position UNLESS they do not come to the campout. I think some countries would like to shuffle the 3 positions as well, but that's the call from the Head Elder in this matter. This gives you a chance to think...

Re: Alternatives to vancian system spells.

Look at the armor discussion. You're going to have to break some eggs to make an omelette. That sounds pretty cool. Now as for all of these things that we talk about, it mostly affects mages, but how would it affect the Cleric? One of the difficulties that taking away spellpoints helps control is th...

Quarterstaffs

Why is there a restriction on stabbing tips on quarter staffs? It seems oddly restrictive. The only reason I've heard of was that since people will store staves vertically then one side of foam would degrade and not be hit legal. That doesn't really make any sense at all, if the weapon is unsafe, th...
