Warrior Mage Question

The current Darkon Rulebook says that Warrior Mages gain First Aid like a fighter, but under the spell descriptions it list Warrior Mages as having Cure Light Wounds on self. Which one do they actually have? First Aid or Cure Light? We assumed it is just First Aid and the spell description was left ...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

Darkon is unique in that we can accommodate differing interests and here you are working on proposal decrease those options. Why? To what end? Everything I see in this thread (excepting the Steel Skin and AOE) is designed to make Mages engage in active combat. This is wrong. I am in no way shape or...

how do we stop flails from just rising up and taking over all by themselves? Helmets. His Holiness makes a great point, this is one of the cheapest pieces of armor you can get. Here is one example http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/used-swedish-m29-steel-helmet-with-liner.aspx?a=1120087 Then som...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

If it is a problem during battle rule days (two teams especially), the other change I could propose is - agreeing with something that was said earlier - simply make protection from fire (and other protection from ___ spells) castable on X amount per level... And to add my idea to that: Remove spell...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

Please let me know if I am understanding the direction the 5 or 6 people posting in this thread would like to go: Change magic to make it so that magic does not disrupt the flow of combat and forces players who are mages to engage more actively in the combat aspect of the game. I think this is a ba...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

Tell me more of how you did the headband armor, please? It was really simple. Lets take Stone Skin and Steel Skin. Stone in its current form can absorb one hit from any color of hand held weapon and Steel can adsorb two hits. We changed them for the day that they were a 1 point and 2 point armor re...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

Back in October we ran a day adventure that pitted nations against some high level druids. We were short on experienced players to Edler. We also were using the new armor rules. We decided for ease of play to do away with the AoE of spells and treat head band armor like regular armor. It was one of ...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

To the "lack of skill" yada yada... we are making these posts based on expertise. I don't use a morningstar because I don't like to. I like feeling like I'm hitting someone with a stick, and stab them in the kneecaps. But somedays I truly want to kill for scorekeeping. I get the chain and...

Re: Discussion - Remove offensive spells

I hope you guys don’t mind but I would like to give an outsiders take on this. I have to say while the Land Map is awesome; the magic system is what really sets Darkon apart. Take away that and then Darkon is Dag/Bel, and I no longer hold interest in these games. If Darkon were to become more like D...

Looking for Older PDF of Rules

My group is looking for an older edition of Darkons Rules. We want to get a page from it to add to our rule book. In the back of the rules (I think its was around 2009 or so maybe earlier I cant remember) there was a picture of the weapons and their dimensions. This is great to have around for our w...

One of the things that need to be mentioned is IF they are using the land map, is when Taxes are collected. It says seasonal, so does that mean taxes are collected 4 times a year? In one of the older rulebooks I have it says taxes are collected twice a year. This is something that could be a bit of ...

Up here in Montana space isnt an issue for us, so we have used bale walls, made from straw because it is cheaper than hay. If you guys ever do decide to build one of these hit me up and and can fill you in on how to build it safely to allow people to crawl all over the thing without it coming down. ...

Lord Dubh is right on that, make a schedule and stick to it, even if there is only you. What if someone sees your ad and decides not to contact you first but just show up? If no one is there, you have lost that player. I have been part of a group that I help start here in Montana 7 years ago. When w...

Re: Discussion - Chapter Agreements

The only issue I have with it is the fact that we have to have a B.O.D to become at full chapter. This is going to prevent smaller groups like us to get the full benefits. The fact is we just dont have enough people right now interested in running the game to ever achieve a Darkon size B.O.D. Dagohi...

Re: Chapter Realities - Core Rules and other stuff

I think you guys should have two rule books, one rule book for Darkon ,that has Darkons name in it, and another generic rule book that just mentions the "realm" for groups that don't wish to make their own rule book.

Re: Chapter Realities - Core Rules and other stuff

I think the awards system should all carry the same name. That way if you have the Order of the Hippopotamus in Darkon you wont have to change it to the order of the Snuffleupagus in another group. I don't think this really needs to be changed, and it would require no change if a person moved from o...

Re: Chapter Realities - Core Rules and other stuff

As a group who have been using the Darkon rules for 8 years now we are going to throw our hat in the ring. First we are going to talk about why we want chapters. Having a chapter system in place is going to give groups like ours some legitimacy and allow us to increase our player base. Even though w...

Re: Land Maps for New Groups

Part of me agrees with Andor, and apart of me with the contract. I think that in this early stage of infancy contarcts are a nessecary evil. If Darkon higher ups need a contract to soothe their troubled mind, so be it. Thats a sacfifice I and my fellow players are willing to make so long as it it no...

Helpful Guidelines for New Darkon Based Groups

I thought that with the ideas of associated Darkon groups coming around, I would post this to help groups who are just getting started. 1.Consistency- Set events and go to them no matter the turn out, maybe there are only 2 of you, but fight anyway. 2.Recognition- Set up a little sign where you figh...
