Re: DISCUSSION: Hypocricy in garb vs armor
I was thinking of putting a fir rim around the lip at the bottom and a chainmail piece in the back to hang down. The fur will disguise the shape I believe, making it a round topped helm with fur trim. If that doesn't work I suppose I could hammer the thing into a slightly different shape at the bott...

Re: DISCUSSION: Hypocricy in garb vs armor
This is as good an excuse as any to get off my ass and mod my WW II helmet like I've been wanting to. They can be made to look good, I'm sure of it, and I've had the inclination to fix mine up but always find something else I should be doing instead.

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon
Here's an idea I've kicked around in my head for a day after reading this. Do with it what you will, I know it's flawed but maybe someone can refine it to something workable. To enhance a mage's versatility and make use of the various protection spells we currently have, how about instead of specifi...

Re: Replacement system for land map
I've used that program too. Super easy, you can zoom in and actually create those cities if you wish (no need for Darkon's landmap that i can see though), and there's a free version although I don't remember if you can save or whatnot. I haven't had any luck starting my own Darkon off-shoot up here ...

Middle one is mine, lost it last campout after I loaned it out Friday night and haven't seen it since. Can you get it to someone in Kindred and let them know it belongs to Ogre? I moved to Pittsburgh and only can make it down a couple times a year.

Re: Open Discussion: Furs
I don't know about all of it, but most of the synth fur I've seen in fabric shops has a cloth backing. Real fur is backed by what is was when it was alive... animal skin.
I could be wrong, but in my experience with the faux stuff it's obvious when you turn it around.

Re: Campout LnF
Did anyone pick up a white sword, no stab tip, huge white quillions, and a super wide pommel? I loaned it out Friday night and when Saturday morning rolled around no one could locate it. We never did find it after tearing down camp either. No idea where it was lost.

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls
Maybe it wouldn't have to be a requirement to have physical walls (leave rope as an option) but modify the abilities that would be affected by them to make them feasible at least. As written, the rules don't allow them unless there's a huge gap at the bottom.

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls
Oh, I know you make proposals when you want something changed. I was just taking issue with the statement that you didn't want to be bound by the rules. You're not above them anymore than anyone else. I would try to get something together to propose myself because I think ropes are silly looking in ...

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls
Besides what Havoc said, it's stupid for us to be bound by a rule we invented AFTER rope walls, simply to ACCOUNT for rope walls. Make it so that Thieves can clamber over the bales. Done. Easy. I'm not saying things can't be changed, just pointing out that physical walls interfere with the way the ...

Re: Slip bonds / captives
Last time I saw that would be at the O.R.C.S. campout; last year? 2010?, Nurgle captured, bond and then tortured a goblin NPC for information. Nurgle did that too? Kindred captured a goblin NPC, interrogated him, and I think we healed him and let him go and gave him some kind of fake title or somet...

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls
One big issue is on page 27 of the rulebook: "There must be an open area of no less than 3’ at the base of 90% of the fortification to allow for the use of the ‘Climb Walls’ Thief skill (see Chapter Five: Types of Characters)." At most, 10% of your walls could be hay bails, the other 90% b...

Re: Connecticut Group?
I'm planning on starting my own Darkon derivative once I move away from the Dc area in a few months so I'll be needing advice too. I have the benefit of being able to talk to Darkonians in person, at least for a while, so I'll use that and anything I learn I'll put up here. One thing I intend to do ...

Re: Get rid of res potions
I don't know about the use on the same day only thing. I know I sure wouldn't bother making any. It costs me 10 spell points to make a rez potion or 2 to cast it (3 to prayer touch and insta-cast it). I'm not going to lose the 10 points just to make a potion if it's only good for the day.

Re: Armor and Lost limbs
Aren't we doing a strictly electronic rulebook now (that's what I've heard anyway)? Can't we have clickable links and references in there? If something is in section X.y.zz but is relevant elsewhere, call it out like this and have a link to X.y.zz: "For more information on wounds to armored ver...

Re: Get rid of res potions
As a maker and seller of res potions, I try not to let them go cheap. What do you consider cheap? Dr. Squirrel and I have been selling them for about a year now, and we try to get a decent return on investment so we can pay the creator a wage (anyone interested in a job, come see one of us at Redlan...

JB, I love that idea and that was what I had intended for the world plot to do. Undead army taking land from countries, every event. And some other people and I were talking about the same idea you had. We did steal a hex from every country except AQ that one event where we introduced the invasions...

Re: Expanding the Land Map
To solve the issue of old countries and the new landmass, can we just have new countries placed on a separate map and not tell old countries about it for a year or 6 months or whatever? Then suddenly there can be a world event that we do at a day event or campout and open up a new continent that is ...

Re: Removing Alignment requirement from Monks
I've actually used the lawful requirement to create the concept for my monk character, but no big deal if it's removed I suppose. The D&D alignments worked there because there could be consequences for breaking them, in Darkon we have no such consequence so alignment is meaningless.

Re: proposal to the spell curse
What he means is you're essentially useless in that state. You can't walk or swing a weapon or cast a spell, you might as well be dead. I wouldn't be opposed to toning it down as long as you shorten it or something. WoH is mostly useless because a shield blocks that, so I wouldn't want to see curse ...

Re: Friendly reminder/spells at crown war
"I fingers invoke fireball from the sun" still works under this rule as the invocation line has been met. From the sun doesnt matter anymore and you are not required to say it, but some people (myself included sometimes) are creatures of 10+ years of habit. Plus I like to mock Mordomians ...
