Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls

Make gates harder to destroy but not mendable. Keeping them as is without mending makes a structure useless. One hit from a siege weapon (could happen at lay-on) and then there was little point in even setting it up to begin with.

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls

As for the second, I enjoy long sieges but sometimes they get so long it becomes stupid. Sieges are long because there's too much rules abstraction to deal with. Some of the fastest & most brutal siege fights we ever had were those with physical representations of walls. Even recently, when we ...

IC post for September pre-adventure & campout

The relics of Darkon have been malfunctioning... The magic has gone out of them randomly. Wizards cast "charge item" upon them, many times to no avail... Meanwhile, rangers and scouts of all type have been reporting back from their various missions with reports of cracked, barren land, som...

Re: Campout (and preadventure) stuff

Hosted by Kindred, some members of NK, some members of House Dubh, and some members of BAMC This is what we CAN tell you: Pre-Adventure: This pre-adventure will involve some boat battles and capturing the flag type stuff. Since there are boat battles... Bring planks! Be prepared for anything. At thi...

Re: Stance on Hay Bail Walls

I never really dug how having a castle/ tower is usually a hindrance in one way or another. It's just funny how taking cover behind the castle, not in it... is the best bet. Honestly, I think castle/ siege fights should be a timed event. If the bad guys can't breach the gates/ ring a bell/ take a b...

The above post made me realize how my post probably came off. I actually am involved in running this campout, for the record. So stay home because I'm gonna enforce the rules of Darkon!

Re: Making A/C/S day, A/C day.

I used to love A/C/S. I feel that this battle gets thrown off of peoples calenders or its not worth them coming out. I think that we should keep the same day, but allow shields. I have now realized that this event turns into nothing but archer duels and anyone not using a bow turns into a pincushio...

Though, let me say, when I was playing kick the can, I saw three people with cameras on the side lines, all snapping away, and two of them had pretty nice gear. I have yet to see any of these.

There are also two independent retinues in the game.

Re: Walk-ins

None of these things are exceedingly difficult. The major problem is 2 & 3 cannot be joined together, unless you are using a small spear. We have a rule against new players using a two-handed weapon for their first five events. Several people sell weapons of all types, though spears are less oft...

It's all good... People just want pictures of fighting and fun times. They don't have to be high quality to have people enjoy them. And they can still be a good photo even if they aren't high quality.

That's me.

I'll probably be posting fighting pics today or tomorrow as there were at least 100 of them and I have not gone through them at all. Though I only managed to get a bunch of kick the can action this year, though... Too busy actually playing kick the can and the bridge battle.

Re: A "Garb Compendium" to help new/lazy players look good

I try to recognize nobility in role play with a little "m'lord" here and a "your grace" there - which by the way - no one else seems to really do. You're just not hanging around the people who do. House Dubh uses the titles (except for me, there are some people who do not get su...

Re: Open Cavalier Class

I tell you what: here's how I'd do it IF it had to be done.. Cav spells and abilities sit on top of whatever class the OSW winner plays ( or whatever they fought with, dunno something like that) New "Cav players" play as per the book, enforced by nobles. Literally in command of their play...

Re: Open Cavalier Class

It especially doesn't make sense balance-wise. Why do we give people proven to be some of the best fighters a class that is basically fighter + some more stuff? You might have a point if the things that they were given made them materially better as fighters. However, it doesn't. So, why shouldn't ...

Re: Open Cavalier Class

I have no qualms about people who win noble fights receiving some sort of perk, however I dont feel like it should be a class of their own to play. Classes should not be limited to how good of a fighter you are. Classes should be open for anyone to play. Now if you want to instill a level requireme...

Re: Clerics are overpowered-Discussion

Look, give up this whole "let's get rid of bars" thing. It was resoundingly defeated last time. There is no point in trying it again, what, a year and a half later at most?

Maybe change the rules to not require quillions (not even a real word), but that's it. That might actually pass.

druids won't have better armor because bark skin would do exactly * unless you're wearing five oz and upgrading to 10oz. - seems fine to me "leather skin" for monks can be exactly that as druids : wearing five oz leathers upgraded to 10oz by ability (maybe furs/skins if that slides into t...

I think this would cause a lot of confusion, and mess up a current balance we have. If you eliminate it and make it a three point system: Druids are now better on battle days than thieves and assassins, guaranteed. They have free armor that is equivalent and they have much larger shields.. Monks are...

Re: Roleplay-esque question & terminology questions

There is nothing to stop anybody from claiming any particular thing their country owns. Plenty of countries have ships that "belong" to a particular person. In Ched Nasad, a few of us had our own keep, it belonged only to a small group and not the country as a whole. Nothing to stop any co...
