Right now the prices are set in silver, why not set them in gold

Ditto for poisons, and any other "personal" (i.e., non-map) assets.

Re: Leather Scale for sale

You could do what Dag does and Use a thickness (their rules 3/16") rather then ounce. I've done Armor check At Rag twice and it is the simplest easiest way to check leather armor ever. The conversion is simple: 1 oz = 1/64th", so 10 oz = 5/32", which is a hair smaller than 3/16"...

Off-Darkon weekends are bad for me, but I'll ask: will there be vendors again? You didn't mention it, but it was a great feature last time around.

Re: Proposal: New AC3 (AR2) Chainmail Specs

Good point--I didn't think of welded mail in my proposal. I guess it boils down to what we think is more important, strength or period-appropriateness. If you vote for strength, it should count as riveted. If you want more historical accuracy, it should count as butted (since it uses modern bonding ...

I'd like to see the rules stay as Adventure, even for Two Teams. I saw some fun stuff last time, like when Roy tried to Animate me after he whapped me in the face with a Magic Missile.

Re: Proposal: New AC3 (AR2) Chainmail Specs

That works. I think the main reason Tim never cosigned during his tour was to appear as impartial as possible, but it's not a requirement in the rules or bylaws. The Magistrate never votes except to break ties anyway, that's impartial enough for me. Oh, and let us know how you want us to submit prop...

Re: Venting

I know my answer to this but where do we (Darkon) draw the line. How many studs/rings missing fails an armor? If I have a piece of armor with hundred studs, and it's missing 5 in spots. Does it fail? Yeah, we should have some proportion. 95% (1/20th) sounds reasonable--it's a high standard, but sti...

Whoever ends up proposing it, I suggest breaking it up into smaller, separate proposals. It failed last time because not everyone liked everything about it (iirc).

Re: Proposal: New AC3 (AR2) Chainmail Specs

Unless explicitly permitted in the specific armor type description, metal armor must be constructed of bronze or steel; and it must be at least 18-gauge and no thinner than .045”. All aluminum armor is forbidden. Exactly. The point of having the overall rule is so we don't have to repeat stuff. Whi...

Proposal: New AC3 (AR2) Chainmail Specs

To simplify matters, I'll leave the geeky number stuff in the original post . Please refer to it for the reasoning behind the following proposal. Note that the change from chainmail as Armor Rating 2 to Armor Class 3 will automatically happen, as the new AC system goes into effect on Jan 1, 2013. Ra...

Re: Removing Alignment requirement from Monks

The same argument also applies to monks; the Lawful requirement comes from D&D, where the logic was that only Lawful people could apply the discipline required to become a monk. But in Darkon, we use the Monk class as a template, and not all Darkon Monks would consider themselves monks IC (Beser...

Re: Removing Alignment requirement from Monks

I'm in agreement, too. The only references I see to alignment in the cav class are that 1) they must have an alignment, and 2) their sash color is tied to their alignment and functions as their holy symbol. If all cavs must adhere to the same Code of Conduct, then "alignment" is really jus...

Good point.

Perhaps you should buy silk skivvies. That way, when you remove your armor for a brief cool-down, and you get attacked, you're wearing undergarments befitting Nobility :)

How are shield breaking weapons noted on the field currently? Right, they are not marked. So, assume that all weapons of the current shield breaking style are still shield breaking... and you'll be pleasantly surprised on the rare occasions when they are not used by fighters and cavaliers. Agreed. ...

I might also put a #4 in there so that people know when a shield breaking player is standing in front of them... Possibily a white sash with a black shield on it (must be at least 3" wide and visible from the front)... to wear on the belt... Why a sash? cuz sashes are cooler than headbands &am...

I guess I'm a little unclear on your question, Sir Aethilgar. As Cort pointed out, if you're hacking/cleaving, it's black damage. If you put a stab tip on a black or white weapon, it's red damage. Draw cuts are verboten.

Could you perhaps put in a pic of the weapon(s) in question?
