Re: Message Board Moderation in 2014

As I said on the Facebook page, this is really just a placeholder. When the web redesign group modernizes the rest of the website, this can be changed to something that matches that. Entirely flexible.

Re: Physical Coin transactions proposal

Yeah, I think that's a great idea. If Country A is transferring a lot of wealth to Country B, there should be some physical caravan or ship(s) that could get sacked. Like Snudge said, we already have the marker method of tracking this, so it's not really an issue to add in a few details to make this...

Message Board Moderation in 2014

As you may have noticed, there have been some changes to the boards. We are entirely open to feedback on how these look, work, etc. Additionally, this is going to become a bit more relaxed of an environment restriction-wise. Usernames can be as little as three characters, signature files and images ...

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon

If we can dial in the power level correctly, we can get rid of spell points. They are a horrible mechanic for balance.

Same penalty as any other sort of cheating, I suppose. That is, up to the Board based on the perceived severity and frequency.

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon

I disagree with this fear of being "one shot". half the classes in the game which should be more combat oriented have the potential to be "one shot" while this fear is under specific circumstances mages could be "one shot". Druids, thieves, assassins and warrior mages ...

Re: The Rogue 2.0

And I think what Zentor is saying isn't that the Assassin Guild Master is "assassinating themselves" so much as "having themselves assassinated" by another assassin. That's still covered by the rulebook: "An Assassin may never perform an assassination on themselves...

Re: The Rogue 2.0

I recall it passing by a decent margin. If all of the countries *at* CW had been at Senate, the BoD veto may well have been overturned. It missed by 2 votes, iirc...rounding in favor of the BoD. :D

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon

Yeah, I am a big fan of things that add flavor without other players needing to recognize special effects in the middle of a big fight. If you *are* a fire dinkus NPC, you have already been briefed on your special vulnerabilities, immunities, hits, etc. However, as long as various types of elemental...

Re: The Rogue 2.0

It is unlikely that assassination will ever go below 6 hours. My proposal allowed for 2/4/6 and apparently 6 was chosen by a good margin. That there are people anywhere eagerly waiting to grief others by way of a combined thief/assassin class speaks volumes. Yes, it speaks as to the shady intention...

Re: Darkon Weapons Change Proposal

Bottom line, the rule as it stands is 6"-8" for dagger striking surfaces. Now, most daggers have a clear handle, and then some foam & tape that builds up to the arrowhead-like tip. That is fine. What is not fine is all basically bare-shaft handle followed up by an arrowhead top. That's...

Re: Correction of bylaws

The Senate overwhelmingly voted for it being the way it had always been in the past, at 3/5. Personally, since Senate wanted it that way, I am not sure we even need another vote. However, given the response, this should be a very, very easy thing to handle (even to a supermajority) at the next event.

Re: What's your favorite general scenario type to play?

I've always been a huge fan of woods and caravan battles (usually also in woods) both. Caravan battles are great for ambushes (otherwise absent between PCs in Darkon), and tend to require a lot more strategy and decisions-on-the-fly than even siege battles. Woods battles require adapting your play s...

Proposal – Change Spell Word Count to Syllable Count

Proposed By: Kevin Zygmontas Cosigners: April Pevear & David Rife --- Making this change would not make spells faster. You can read 100 single-syllable words in the same time you can read 100 syllables. However, it would remove the advantage in writing single-syllable word streams of nonsense. P...

Re: Actually only having ring fights on tourney days?

I'd like to see the concept of permanent hexes go away. There was always plenty of reason to fight before it existed, and other games find plenty of reasons to fight. Ironically, because there's a permanent benefit or detriment to anything related to the land map, people are much more hesitant to go...

Re: Actually only having ring fights on tourney days?

I will also say that I recall few "nice weather days" this year. It went from being * cold, directly to * hot. A great many of our players are "fair weather players". We had more people at winter battles in deep snow, with blowing icy winds, than we did at that recent ACS battle...
