Re: Garb and Costume 2014
Yes. If it's a solid color without logos on it, it will be fine. If it's got a graphic on it, there's a chance a marshal may find it inappropriate for play.

Costume 2014 (garb trends/what marshals are looking for)
This year, I've seen some good and some bad. I've really enjoyed the increase in tunics and custom work. Lots of good stuff out there, and I'm dying to see more! As to the things that have still plagued us? Logos, footwear, modern (typically cargo) pants. As we all know- minimum garb standards are a...

Costume 2014 (on the field/multiple rulings/discrepancies)
On the field: Aside from check in, costuming standard is to be upheld all day. If you're fielding, please be mindful of your costuming "degrading" over the day (you may be asked to 1 sword, or even sit out), and if you're on the sidelines- it still looks good to be garbed! I'm going to pre...

Garb and Costume 2014 (How to check in)
As a player, checking in is a piece of cake. 1. Players are to be garbed before checking in. 2. Players are to present their surcoats, banners, elder tunics to marshals. 3. Players are to ensure that the marshal standing post is aware of their being counted. (so pretty much, stay in one line, and ma...

Garb and Costume 2014
Back by Unpopular Demand: Lord Valfryn (C. Murphy) as NC Garb and Costume Overseer, here and boy do I have some great feelings about this year's costuming. I've assembled a great team of marshals (that I'm sure that everyone's going to love) and formulated a few protocols that should make Country Re...

So pretty much, it will always do the same * to a player... but to a fire dinkus you may want to use Ice against it, etc

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon
Say for example, you have: Hands, Bolt,Blast and Wall each spell can be muted to an element however the mage wants. It does the EXACT same thing no matter what except for the "adventure rule" that it is trying to evoke. I would like a "wall spell": like sanctuary, but the wizard ...

Re: Darkon Weapons Change Proposal
Nurgle is Opposed Sorry man Don't like the daggers or javelins sections. You just proposed to make every dagger I use in the game illegal. None of them have a 6-9 inch striking surface, they are stab tips on a handle. No stab tip is 6-9 inch long. The current rule is: "Daggers must have a stri...

Re: A New Perspective on the Mage class within Darkon
Changing the level of a spell does not solve the clumsy mechanic that is AOE. Having spell balls (albeit with a stripe on them) that are red being tossed around will still cause more confusion than anything (which is the same reason why I think AOE is a * mechanic). The DD spells are cool, though th...

Yea, sorry you don't fb. Pretty much everyone got soft for one reason or another. I'll try to remember to shoot you an email or something if it seems like there's going to be a mass bailout. I have a lot of projects due this/next week. Couldn't justify peeling away from the machine for a low turnout...

Re: new comer for the 17th
Everyone is friendly and helpful (OOC, anyway). RTFM (at least "new players", combat) Be sure to mingle. Ask questions. Don't ever decide your team based on your favorite colors. Don't flesh out a primary player character (rp wise) until you've played a bit and "dipped a toe in the re...

Re: Maelstrom- redux
don't want to worry about "halving" 3 points of damage. Also, 1 handing a sword that belonged to a giant seems dumb to me. The main purpose was to have people USING maelstrom. Not "holding maelstrom".

In an attempt to get the sword used as a sword and not a pillow cannon, here's a stab at a giant sword worth using in combat. This was heavily influenced by the discussions led by Mardux. Re: Actually only having ring fights on tourney days?
last event was also the last day of renfest, which may have caused a few players to skip. Location is also an issue with attendance. I'm fairly sure that our biggest number days were at ccbc, millersville, burtonsville. We no longer use two of these sites. Many people outright boycott VA sites. I wi...

My opinion, as opinions were asked for.
Here goes: I don't shoot arrows more than twice a year, but I can feel for the archers out there. Passively or actively blocking an arrow is *. It's like me saying "I'll just walk around with my weapon flats facing out, all lazy-like. I'm not blocking, I'm chillin'. " This sort of behavior...
