How to get involved in politics

Post by Rukias » 2012-01-27

I want to have a better understanding of the non-fighting side of Darkon. How do you or people you know participate in the politics and intrigue that go on outside the battlefield?

Get really butthurt by someone in another country, and come up with meta gaming ways to ruin their good time. Seems to be the Darkonian way lately... But for real, you gotta spend time in the game, listening.

The easiest way is to join one of the groups that participates heavily in the court and its intrigue. Barring that, I would say joining one of the groups that oppose the King, although they tend to do less politicking if you are not one of the leaders of the country.

If you are good-aligned I would speak with Sarum.
If you are not then I would speak to House Dubh (or Sarum).

To reuse advice from another LARP I was in, "Find someone [or something] to hate." It's a good way to get started--find a country/person/ideal to actively fight against, both in and out of combat.

True, Kobolos! Inequality makes the world go 'round.
Roleplay and politics are a funny topic at darkon.

Your best chance for success is becoming a part of an active group/ entity. In order to have your opinion be truly worthy of consideration, you need to attain a "sagelike" status in some manner, or be in command of some variety of power. If you have neither, you will need to be assigned to political duties by a superior that does.

Get yourself involved with the landmap in some way. Also, attend campouts, that's where the politicing comes into play.
