More Camp Out stuff you should know.

Post by Taggart MacBannion » 2012-03-14

Howdy folks, I, alongside Yaron and the rest of House Dubh are running the Campout in March.

Here is some useful stuff you should know.

1.) If you folks haven't guessed already, much of this camp out uses many different "boons" and abilities that exist in the rules already. That said, MAKE AS MANY SPELL COMPONENTS AS YOU CAN. This means spellballs, capes, read through the rulebook and make one of everything you see for EACH INDIVIDUAL PERSON. This will help you a great deal, plus in the coming events, you'll always be prepared! I know some of you lazy bums are rolling your eyes at this already, but it takes two minutes and about fifty cents to make a cape, guys, you can do this and you absolutely should if you want to exploit the wide array of possibilities we've been writing for y'all.
MAKE SPELL COMPONENTS. I cannot emphasize this enough.

2.)I know a lot of countries have interesting or quirky camp out prizes or special abilities that they've gotten over the years, and if you want to know how they'll be relevant to this campout (and we want to get the most out of them we can) please, please PM me with them and any questions you have.

3.) You hopefully have noticed the "ceremonies" mentioned by Yaron in the camp-out rules, and I want to emphasize how much this camp out has to do with your respective deities and pantheons. They have taken an active role this time around guys, and I want to see you folks do the most appropriate, creative, and just gosh-darned awesome ceremonies and rituals and anything else at all you can think of.

I encourage any and all of you with questions about anything I've said or anything else about the campout.

No time minimum or maximum, do what you think of as the most appropriate and awesome thing you can. People hang about, we'll mosey by at some point.

Study this video. It's related to the camp out. I shouldn't need to explain why.

So you all know, THERE WILL BE NO CAMPING IN THE BARN OR PAVILION. They will be available for play. The pavilion will be used by staff & elders throughout the campout for check-in, prizes, etc.

We will be using the barn for a few hours on Friday night to conduct an in-game event. All are welcome to attend. So, dibs and stuff.

Yes but the old rules still are in effect ... if you are going to use the staff you can only use one end to strike opponents with please remember Do Not Use Both Ends!! It is best from experience to use the end that is complaining to strike with - it gets the noise a lil further away and at the same time tends to lessen the amount of words coming out... just a helpfull fyi

Ps... the above is a joke rofl that I have to say that

Please do not use either end of me to strike opponents. I am padded, but not that well.

To clarify/correct, staff (ahem) & elders reserve the right to tell you to GTFO if they so choose.

As it currently stands, we're cool with a Sarum-sponsored gathering Friday night.

Read in the official announcements that the site closes at noon on Sunday. How strictly will this be enforced? Considering the event officially ends at 11am some people may be actively packing and not completely cleared out by noon.

The event officially ends at noon, yes. But it was said somewhere that the whatever is happening will end before then. You will then have time to clean/pack/etc. At 11 the event officially ends and prizes will be announced, etc. This means you have an entire hour after the event ends to pack up any loose ends (which hopefully won't exist since there will be time to pack up before then) and leave.

So that's an official, "we can be on site after 12 pm on Sunday"?

Our contract says we will be gone at noon. Things may change depending on what the EB does with the site owners, but as of now, our contract says noon, so be prepared.

So it sounds like playing Darkon till 11 would be incongruous to getting the hell out by noon... I'll be cleaning my camp by 10 then at the latest...

I think its contingent on if anyone else has rented the park for Sunday. If no one has, then they will likely allow us to use it on into the afternoon on Sunday. The Pres will be able to find this out on Friday when we get to the park, so we will have plenty of notice one way or another. They are preparing for the worst, which is letter of contract, GTFO at noon.

I would also like to encourage people to bring fire-bowls and grills, as many as you got, because there are only 5 legit fire pits in the whole site.

And you CANNOT have a fire outside of the 5 designated fire pits UNLESS it's IN a bowl or whatever. PERIOD!

I repeat this only because you know someone will invariably dig a giant hole and burn a tent in it... Or something...
