I do not want people to take this to mean we don't need Elders. If you are IN THE FIGHT you are not an Elder. Elders are people who stand apart and observe and preferably wear Elder tunics.

I really would like to see more types of events organized but it can't be forced.

Thanks Im glad people enjoyed. As always, no matter what we do, people will bitch they want to just do two teams. It always happens, and Ive learned to ignore them. They are the minority, and can easily go off to the side and spar with each other if they do not like the adventure/side battle.

The issue with the CTF battle is that it was an adventure rules battle, and there were basically no adventure rule abilities being used. The losing team had clerics, none used sanctuary. The losing team had mage(s), they didnt gaseous form to the ballistae and pouch fireball it. Both side had casters able to dispel magic, both sides had thieves/assassins who could have brought extra garb and disguised as another country, killed the ched priests before they knew what was going on, and then ran off with the flag.

I can only lead you to the fun, i cannot make you drink.

As far as the potions went, only a few were sold. I heard a few people say they were too pricey (and i discounted most of them severely) but then I hear people complaining that money in Darkon is useless since people have so much. So which is it? If money is so abundant, why horde it?

To those of you who purchased a Mystery potion, please see me next event and i will give you the slip of paper with its description. Apologies I left them up the hill and was not going back up to get them. Also Jackie I owe you a 5gp potion of your choice next event.

I will continue selling the potions each event during check in, until they are all gone (I made 120). They are good until 12/31/12 and can be used at any adventure battle/campout and most of them for Land Searches as well. Final count of coin raised was approx 75 gold and double that in silver, with 0 coins being drawn from the bank, so all profit of horded coin :)

One note I would like to point out is that I saw more face/head shots yesterday that I have in a LONG time, many by multiyear vets of the game. Please take care in your shots.

My neck and face are in complete agreement with this statement. Even with a steel helmet, I got a few stiff hits that I am still feeling today.

One of our new boys caught a BRUTAL face shot from an Elidorian Spear-Saint. He straightened right back up and kept going til it was over. Gotta love that intensity! Face shots bad. Intensity good!

Haha, yea.. was toying with the plan of during 2 teams: taking headshots as if they are legal.
Will keep me wearing the helmet longer, and help affirm the real life skill of NOT JEOPARDIZING MY OWN HEAD. I keep taking risks at darkon that I would never take if my enemy was trying to actively kill me. Besides, most of the (illegal) headshots I take now, I take as yellow because I cant feel the difference through the helm and liner.

I feel bad for one of the ORCS guys that I shot in the head with the ballista. Was not intentional but you took it like a champ.

It wasn't too bad, probably because I will a good distance away. Mostly ear and side of the head, and I have a hard head. I could've RPed that a little better....

I think it's 'cause Darkon has lost it's imagination and wants everything catered to them and is unwilling to put 5 seconds thought into anything... Just MHO.

It's true, the realm is lousy with them these days. All chiefs... *smirk*

DING DING DING! Considering most of Darkon was out fighting hard as hell, I'd say you ignoring (what I'm guessing was under 20 people) the whiners was a great move!

Let's do more CTF and other scenario fights guys! Hell, just 2 teams in the woods is more entertaining than the same tired sports field battles... I definitely don't feel like a viking when I'm fighting in a baseball diamond next to backstop... Sorry, but woods battles are the most immersive day event we can have...

I definitely agree with Thrush. Two teams in the woods was awesome. That was the first time I fought in those particular woods. I thought it was perfect. Not too many trees that it becomes cumbersome but just enough to change things up.

I'm a big fan of objective based battles because it forces strategy. Field battles don't have much strategy. We alwAys wind up doing the same toilet bowl maneuver trying to outflank each other.

Yeah, I never thought I'd see the day, but I am actually bored with Darkon 2 teams on an open field. It is not stimulating at all anymore... I don't try to fight hard, I don't try to plan anything cool... It's always the * same... And you know I love to fight as much as anyone. But the weird Darkon toilet bowl (completely unique to Darkon) has gotten lame as *.

And Caetrel's point about country battles is SO * TRUE! They suck balls. Whoever doesn't fight, wins. Every. Single. Time.

Yea, we always just attack whoever is closest , get gangbanged out of the match real fast... so we can get water and exchange dickjokes until a real event comes around. Same with chaos battles..I just walk. Always takes too damn long, rewarding inactivity.

The only way chaos or country battles would be fun is if they had some reward mechanism of aggressiveness or a punishment for inactivity.

Maybe play it like dodgeball? Whipe a country out, get 2 of your dead guys back? Hell if i know... i just hate sitting down watching people corner on eachother until it's 4 oclock.

Unfortunately, there isnt much of a fix to the toilet bowl. One side, or both, will alwayys wheel to gain an advantage, flankers will run one way or another, Messick and I will try to blend in to kill people when they aint lookin :)

As far as country battles go, I am going to try something a little different with them next time, putting some countries together to have maybe 4-5 teams of equal size out there. I do like the dodgeball equation though and maybe we can figure out a way how to do that.

The only way to combat someone sitting out til the end is by seeing that country doing that, and charging them yourself. That or the Elder calling anyone dead for 5+ min of non fighting....

I enjoyed getting killed frequently. I was on the losing side of one of the CTF fights and the ballistae and bowmen were top notch. I don't think our side had any missile weapons. Trust me, if I had any magical, thief, oror monkish abilities, I would have broke that out in a heartbeat!

I agree that objective based fighting is more realistic. How about some escort missions?

I have an idea that might be interesting. Have several flags placed randomly around an area, objectvis to capture the area and defend from the other team. Time limit of 5 minutes, with Res points at opposite ends. When the whistle blows, the team with most flags win.

Or like the game bad company, one team is defending a valuable relic, and the other team is supposed to destroy it.

Even a fighting version of hide and seek would liven things up. Anyway that is my 4 copper.....

Actually, this is like the 3 holy point battles, or the dungeon gate fight at the eastern shore campout... to a degree. Capture the most points battles are always awesome!

Disturbingly common belief: Darkonians cannot learn new things, don't try anything new (even a simplification), because they will get confused.
