Campout, Oct. 19-21

Post by The Quiet Cleric » 2012-10-17

It has been almost one year since the undead plague fell upon the realm of Darkon.

Priests, wizards, soldiers, and naturalists have all tried to stem the tide of supernatural influence on the lands. Even the mighty High King Slindar Magrashall, despite the efforts of his best men, has been unable to beat back the hordes of undead or even find its source.

Bodies litter the streets of nearly every city in the realm. Shallow mass graves are not an uncommon sight for travelers on the roads between nations, some of whom have resorted to simply burning nameless corpses on enormous pyres in an effort to stymie the attacks.

The Temple of Athena, a welcome respite to many wounded soldiers of war, has seen her once-gleaming marble floors glazed with a thick coat of blood, entrails, and the dead or dying. Her faithful have worked tirelessly day and night providing care, but the more patients that are patched up, the more that come through her doors.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules for the Campout
=====================
  • The Temple of Athena will represent Hades for this adventure.
  • Points will be awarded for quests completed.
  • Points will be deducted for deaths. Please report who or what killed you upon checking in. We expect a ton of fighting and therefore, a ton of dying. If we see a country with a significantly lower number of deaths than anyone else, we will come and find out why.
  • Points will be rewarded extremely liberally for excellent roleplaying, particularly roleplaying wounds and death. If you receive wounds and cannot get magical healing, come to Hades. You'll likely leave sooner than the 4 minutes for light wounds or 8 for mortal wounds. Good roleplaying of wounds and death can and will result in leaving Hades sooner.
  • There's a chance you may be cycled out of Hades as an NPC. You'll likely (but not guaranteed to) get stronger-than-player powers, so have fun with it. Some NPC's will receive campout items which are lootable. The campout items are only good to whoever presently has the associated quest, so stockpiling these items is pointless and not allowed.
  • Saturday night will involve a bonfire, and debates, pit fights, and casino all hosted by Myrmidon Entertainment™. Prizes will also be awarded Saturday night assuming the EB gets back to us before then. Points will be received for every armload of wood brought to us. This offer is unlimited (within reason). This wood is for the bonfire.

One thing we hate to say but must: any mishandling of campout items or playing against the spirit of the rules will result in harsh penalties for the country or countries involved.

Thanks and see you there!

Absolom,

NQ was planning on taking "The Pit" as a campsite... We are hoping you aren't planning on setting up a mod down there... will that be OK... or will it mess up your plans?

By "the Pit", do you mean the oubliette across from Hades? If so, that's fine.
