My books is large enough, and full of many empty pages. MARK AWAY. Better that than having to worry about a little slip of paper falling out. If I need to bail on a spell because I'm being charged, chances are I'm going to toss the book to get my gear ready. I've had slips of paper fall out and fly away before. Slips should be an optional measure for those who don't keep books, or don't want their books marked up.

Yeah, it's not a huge issue to write in my mage or cleric spellbook, they have plenty of blank areas. Some casters asked me to sign their books as a receipt when I collected mage taxes. It was pretty awesome. No reason you can't do that in some, and give inserts to the ones who don't want it... Like Drew said, sometimes you drop your book and run. An extra page could blow away. I would much rather just have someone just sign a page.

Also, I've seen books that wouldn't even fit your card size.

Humm. Sevral 'Price guns' one type or sticker for the spell books, another for weapons.

If a person does not want their book stickered then have a card that can be carried as the insert.

things do break at events. i don't think the weapon checkers need to be punished in this circumstance.

Mark it up as in put down a Check Mark for ok, or a big fat red X if it's not? Either that or these inserts seem like a good idea. Up with Accountability and Responsibility!

Not to gripe - but can the president, or other EB member, get this copy/paste into the announcements section?

That way as this falls off the top of the main board it'll still be easily referenced mid-summer...

So, it's been a few months since this was formally instituted, and as such, the consequences for not following the rules has been up'd. This past event was the first time(of many i'm sure) that I have made spell casters who did not have their spells checked forfeit their ability to do so; specifically for Wars and Land Searches, where these spells can be vital.

Please, Please, Please get your spell books checked and signed off on. If you have any questions about what is going on or why, ask or read the initial post of this thread.

Before any of the excuses start on this thread; there are ~10 Spell Marshalls and lots of nobles that are ALWAYS available to check your book. If you are busy, have someone drop off your spellbook with me or one of the marshals to have checked while you're doing the check-in, weapons, straigthening out war plans, leading a country etc. Example: Meredith Kelly has this done every event, because she is actively checking peoples garb.

I will be taking a list of those individuals that have problems complying to the rules regularly to the EB for possible discipline; i'd really prefer not to.

I am happy to answer any questions or concerns.

What Wulfvin said. Note, you don't have to keep the book ON YOU. But if you're casting anything any day, even just free headband armor during 2teams, your book still has to go through check in. If you're just 2teaming, after checkin you can leave it at your camp, but if you're asked for it, make sure you can show it to the elder.
