Court Etiquette and Protocol

Post by Lord Dubh » 2012-11-07

Court Etiquette and Protocol

When speaking to or introducing Knights of the Realm and those with titles it is best to use proper and standardized honorifics, so here is a short list to help you at the up and coming coronation...

The High King is simple...he/she is always ROYAL MAJESTY

His Royal Majesty or Your Royal Majesty.

Archdukes are also royalty, having been High King.

His Royal Highness or Your Royal Highness

Princes that have been been High King are also Royalty...

His Royal Highness or Your Royal Highness

Princes that have not been High King...

His Highness or Your Highness

Dukes that have not been High King...

His Grace , Your Grace or The Most Noble TITLE NAME

Counts and Marquis that have not been High King...

His Lordship, Your Lordship or The Most Honorable TITLE NAME

Earls and Barons that have not been High King...

His Lordship, Your Lordship or The Right Honorable TITLE NAME

Knights of the Realm with no other titles...

The Honorable Sir/Dame NAME
Sir Bendore Dubh of Dai-Dagan, CR, KR, OG, OR, CB, CC
Master Thief of Darkon

Orks talk more simple den dis.

If you'z in charge of a country or you got yerself a nob title, den yer "Boss" or "Big Boss" or "Warboss".

Kingz iz called "Warlord", but I sumtimez callz 'em "King" so gitz know 'oo O'm talkin' about.

Jay Jay you may need to expand your vocabulary -

"Orc's talk typically is more simple then the information you just stated above. If you are in charge of a country or you aquire a noble title, then you could be called "Boss", "Big Boss" or "Warboss". Kings of the Orcs typically are called simply "Warlord", but sometimes I call them "King" so others realize who I am talking about."

Maby next time there is a public debate you can enter to show the Warboss how to use words to debate in public. But for right now he has won the last public debate so it must be your lack of understanding which does not let his words enter you thought process in a proper way. :)

If you are unable to remember the complexities of the system, there's a polite and socially acceptable "out". The "default setting" for all titles is ma'am/sir. In our system, "Lord/Lady" generally suffice for all ranks.

I'm curious, do Orcs change the titles for females, or is a female "nob" Orc also a "Warboss"?

My Dearest Lady,

There are in fact no female Orcs. The foul creatures are spawned for spores.

Humies an' uvver races got diff'rent bitz. Dey got boyz an' gurlz. Orkz ain't got bitz, so we'z all boyz. It'z 'ard fer us ta tell da diff'rence in uvver races 'tween gurlz an' boyz, so we ain't got diff'rent wordz for 'em. Dats why you'z "Boss" Keira. You gives da orders, but you don' do da fightin', so "Warboss" ain't right. You ain't real big, so "Big Boss" ain't right neevur.

An' to da wun dat said O'm messin' up yer language: O'm talkin'' ork... educatin' you lot on diff'rent kulture an' stuff.

I think you missed the part where we crushed your left side and you did nothing about it. You won a war, and that it something to be proud of. However, I can say that no ork killed me, and as far as I am concerned no one in my unit either.

Did you miss the part where we crushed your flank........didn't think so. See you on the field.

Personally I dont think any of them knew what happened in the field battle, as the memory fog of death sets in, and had set in long before 5 minutes had passed...

For a crushed left flank, only a trickle of individuals made it through to me, and those that did were cut down with righteous zeal in the name of Lord Shadowfang and Prince Cailen.

Twas a glorious fight indeed, but in the end, not much more than a light sweat crossed my brow.

This is a discussion regarding proper Court Etiquette, not our opinions on the Crown War and the battles fought. Take this discussion to another magic missive.

I believe the court etiquette discussion had ended and being as this is an in character forum, and orks have a short attention span, it is a completely fine on topic thread.
