Easy enough to explain: people are too sk33rt to fight over land, so we wizarded up some lands so they can be homies on it. They can RP their combat using paper rock and scissors between bouts of braiding each others hair.

These islands shall be called the Isles of Charmin. As they are made for those composed of the softest of fiber.

There should be multiple elders on hand to make sure that whoever gives the warmest, friendliest hugs gets the hex in the event of accidental double land searching.

My bad, you're right. Instead of finding a way to make the game a little more inviting for new players and a way to make it slightly easier for them to land search a few events and get a foothold, we should force them all to plant near CB so when they search near your borders you can declare war on those 4-5 inexperienced fighters as well. Sound good?

This has already made it into the proposal submission section from here. I can also tell everyone there is going to be exactly 4 placements left for new countries after the land searches & invasion this coming event. However all of those placements would piss someone off.

My current decision regarding how to manage the map is going to be a northern expansion. Assuming this passes senate.

Saris Fey-Branche wrote:If you do expand the land map, it should be entirely inaccessible for "land searching" by old countries for a sigificant period of time and reserved only for founding new countries.

Honestly, though, even that's not necessary. There are over a dozen places currently on the land map for new countries to found in. If they want further land from there, they have plenty of neighbors with land ripe for the taking.

Again, implementation restricting established countries from expanding swiftly through new lands makes sense and has a basis in history.

I do, however, disagree that there are over a dozen places that a new country might currently place themselves. I know that we had significant difficulty finding a reasonable spot when we placed.

Correct. When deploying schoolyard formations, I would suggest ring around the rosie, duck duck goose, or the advanced formation of public school double dutch.

Here is a method for expanding the land map that does not require senate approval:

1) Treat all hexes not of your color as empty

2) "Land Search" them

Wait, Elidor has an opinion on war... what?

And I disagree with the go north idea... But we will chat about it in senate, I'm so sure of it!

This method works for established countries.

This method does not work for new countries attempting to place their initial hexes.

To wit I say;

1) allow the Land Marshal to expand the map in the best way he conceives,
2) allow new countries to place on this new land without penalty,
3) provide an additional (hefty) cost for established countries through whatever method the Senate sees fit.

It would need to be impossible for older countries to access the new continent for a signficant period of time, not just expensive.

Many of the older countries in Darkon could build a bridge over the ocean to the new continent made entirely of melted gold coins and barely notice it in their coffers.

Sidenote: If Snudge claims there are only four inconvenient places left to place now I obviously believe him.

LOL usually its "well if we go to war with them, we will crush them, they will get all offended and bitch"

I think we need to go to war at least once a year to get some of the fat old guys off their couch for a day ;)

If you're worried about overwhealming:
Form 3 mini-dors, or choose to match numbers. (No shame in that game).

To solve the issue of old countries and the new landmass, can we just have new countries placed on a separate map and not tell old countries about it for a year or 6 months or whatever? Then suddenly there can be a world event that we do at a day event or campout and open up a new continent that is somehow filled with these new countries that have had a little time to thrive there, then we go crush them? :)

Personally I fell Land Wars should happen all the time, the problem is, people get their feelings hurt, take it personally, or don't quit in a timely fashion.

Nurgle and Elidor have a dispute, say Lynx and Fingers have a romantic fling, it ends poorly, and accusations fly. Elidor declares war on Nurgle. Two to 3 events war is fought between the nations. An IC meeting is had, stuff explained, maybe a boat changes hands, a treaty is signed and the conflict ends.

Neither side leaves butt hurt, a cool mechanic of the game is used, and 6 hexes of land remain unsearched for those 3 events.

honestly only 3 hexes don't get searched in this exchange. Elidor's finished searching anyway. Am I right or am I right
