New Rule for Assassin roleplay

Post by Cog » 2013-06-29

Current Cosigners:
-Joey Kane (of Old Sarum/Rithaine)
-Jeffery Hager (Xialias of Kindred)
-Ryan Hurd (Karsis, Leader of Nurgle)

New Rule:
At 20th rank, an assassin gains the ability to add a signature poison to the writs he uses. The signature poison acts as a last rites "poison" in which the victim may not be resurrected. During the next 12 minutes, the victim may be resurrected only if the antidote is applied to them, followed by resurrection via spell, potion or scroll.
The antidote can only be acquired by finding/apprehending the responsible assassin, after the victim has been assassinated. The antidote, is not a physical in game item. An assassin must be looted with the intention of finding the antidote, at which time they will announce that they have given their pursuers the antidote. To represent the signature poison on the writ, the Assassin must add a visible purple "X" to the writ.
Normal rules regarding Monk immunities to poison still apply.

Also, to increase roleplay and to save arguments I wanted to add a little something

Added wording:
Original wording:
An assassination can only be performed with a dagger, an arrow, or by poison. The Assassin must strike his victim with a blow that would cause at least a mortal wound.Once the assassination is performed, the Writ must be left with the victim. If the assassination is performed with an arrow, the Writ must be tied to the shaft of the arrow. Assassinations may also be performed with death class poison (see Poison in Chapter Seven); however, the Writ must still be left with the victim. An Assassin may never perform an assassination on themselves, furthermore all participants must recognize this ability is not to be used as a way to change characters during an event. Such conduct is considered against the spirit of the game. All rules regarding Resurrection apply to assassination victims. Any assassinated character may not return to play for 24 hours unless resurrected through magical means.

I like it, but I think the antidote should be lootable in general (not just after the deed, and not just when specifically looking for it). That way, there's the chance of pickpocketing it before the hit, which would make for amusing roleplay (let's let that Assassin hit the king, then we'll administer the antidote in secret...). Another consequence of making it lootable before the hit could be where some thief or other player actually gets a hold of it without knowing what it is.

The downside is that making it a physical item makes it subject to cheesing. For example the assassin could give the antidote to another player, or just bury it in the dirt somewhere.
