Campfires at Bellum

I see the policy stated thusly in part:

Campfires
All campfires must be contained within a fire pit. Fire pits must be dug at least 8 inches deep or deeper if necessary to create an appropriate depth to accommodate their size.
Fire pits must be ringed with large stones, bricks, or cinderblocks. Grass and brush must be cleared around fire pit.

Wherein it states

Fires are limited to the fire rings already on the site, grills, fire bowls and tiki torches.

Does a transportable stone based and walled elevated fire ring (square actually) qualify under this as a big fire bowl?

Are you leaving with it again? I think their idea is that they don't want the fire on the ground. I believe one of your quotes is from Darkon and one is from Patuxant Park... The park rules supersede everything. Just like no hard liquor.

The first quote is the general Darkon campout policy, as stated here:

The second is an old post from 2012, updated in 2013, specific to camping at Patuxent River Park.

Yes, I am leaving with it again. The structure keeps the bottom of the stone (concrete pavers actually) 9 inches above the ground, and the pavers are ~1 1/2 inch thick.

I agree the idea is not to mar the ground, basically take a leave no trace approach.

Andrick's reaffirmation of the post in 2013 still stands, as he is still President.

Ergo, NO additional fire-containing devices may be brought.

I asked Andrick to come comment on this as I know for a fact portable camp pits were at Pax for last Bellum, as well as a previous Pax campout where ELidor / NQ/ Thrush and others had one back in the woods.

I think metal fire bowls and the like are ok, I don't know about building an ad hoc fire pit out of pavers would be ok... The president should rule on that before one brings one and puts in the effort.

Yeah, there were numerous firebowls and other fire-containing things at BAII throughout several camps that I visited/stayed in.

I think the most important thing is that was cannot dig a new hole and bring a ring and make a new fire pit. Something that has a flat bottom and sits directly on the ground and could destroy the grass might also not be welcome. I hope Andrick shows up soon to rule on this.

The only contact with the ground is the open side of 9 cinder blocks.

I know this might be a dumb question: Propane Camping Burners (the micro-backpack sized stoves). Do they fall under the category for grills for fire rules or would they be disallowed from the campsite? Figure better to ask than to make an assumption that a small stove equals a grill.

I don't think anyone has a problem with people cooking with propane burners... That would be kind of insane. Pretty sure our camp had like 3 camp stoves in it.

That happened at Linganore. Think it was Nurgle camp. I remember running over kicking the little stove out of the way. It was nuts. It trapped 2 people in the tent as it was melting away.
