May 6th Battle
Re: May 6th Battle
We had a caravan battle yesterday and the hosts tied 2 2"x4"x8' to a milk crate and put 2 suits of chain in it. Worked pretty well and required to guys to carry it. Food for thought as that stuff is pretty readily available

I've got an old chest I can bring, been keeping my spare armour in it. I looks like it would fit right into the 1200s as well
Re: May 6th Battle
I have two 17th century flags. Not heavy but HUGE!! 6ft by 6ft on a 7ft haft.
I can't make it but if someone wants to pick them up I am cool with it.

Re: May 6th Battle
I have been given EB clearance to sell a limited number of potions at the upcoming 5/6 battle. These potions will consist of:
Cure Light Wounds
Cure Serious Wounds
Cure Mortal Wounds
Cure Disease
Missile Ward
Ressurection (limit 1)
Neutralize Poison
Protection from Fire
Stoneskin
Growth
Gaseous Form
Mystery Potion (limit 1)
These potions will be on sale in limited quantities at prices varying from 5-50gp and only for physical coin. Those who purchase potions with coin not withdrawn on the 5/6 event day, will receive a discounted price.
They are limited to 5 per country (one surcoated country member may purchase for that country) or 2 per nomad. These potions will be good for any adventure battle, including land searches, from 5/6/12 - 12/31/12.
The potions should remain in play at all times, if possible and are lootable by normal means. These potions will not be sold until a predetermined time by me, and I shall announce that I am Open for business at this time. While I am selling potions, there is to be no fighting within 20' of me. Once beyond this point, you are fair game, so plan your escorts accordingly

This event was one of the best I have had in my time in Darkon. Great show, great fighting, and everyone was nice and friendly to each other despite the humid weather. Thanks Darkon.

Glad you guys could make it.
Awesome first full day in plate for me. Havn't worn the stuff in over a year, good times.

You did not look pleased to be in your plate dude... lol I was worried about you! Color changing Valfryn is worrisome! lol
Great day guys! Thanks Fingers! I have some ideas for another CTF day, if anyone wants to do it again.... Rather than just another lame field battle day.

I'm like the old Zartan figure. Since I am rather pastey, the flushness really shows. Made a point of high water intake. Overlapping 16ga is no joke, son. MKII suit will be 18ga, for certain, less plates if I can help it. BTW, the 211 suit looks nice. Almost "lordly", if you will.

I'm making my suit from 18ga, high speed low drag lol. I'm glad this battle has been received so well. Maybe this will lead to more objective based battles, rather than just two teams.

One would hope. But not everybody enjoyed themselves. While taking photos after the first round of it, I heard a few people on the losing side discussing that, if they lost a second time they could finally go back to two-teams.
Disappointing.

Apparently a real downer was the use of sanctuary on the part of myself and Khronos.

People don't like to lose. If your getting beaten you should step up your game and try to turn the tide, not give up and hope to play a different game. Thats a real * attitude.

Re: May 6th Battle
I had a blast. Won zero rounds of the CTF. I had to be reminded that sanctuary has a radius on it, not just a "personal invuln effect", so thanks for your patience, guys. Though diggy kiling me, thus making all arguments invalid was about the best piece of darkon rules adjucation I encountered that day.
Would suggest obj battle, 2 teams, then obj battle with new sides, repeat.
Mixes up the gameplay and keeps the teams fluid.
Great event.

I know that later in the year, Kai and myself will be running some objective based battles that I think Darkon will enjoy. I'm pretty excited to run them, it just sucks I won't be able to play in them lol.

Re: May 6th Battle
The trick is getting the rules so simple that they can be run themselves. Why do you think Two Teams is so common? The rules are so simple (Us vs them) that you don't even really need an Elder. There are so many nobles on the field most days that you can get the job done just using them.
