\u201cAre you sure?\u201d demanded one of the giants who stood guard before Thrym\u2019s hall in Jotunheim.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boss is not going to like this,\u201d commented the other rolling his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen have you EVER known ME to be wrong about betrayal?\u201d asked the hooded figure standing before them. They both looked down at him, then at each other.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cYou tell him,\u201d they both said together as they turned and pushed open the doors.<\/p>\n

The hooded man drew his cloak around himself and strode into the hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou never bring good news,\u201d grumbled Thrym from atop his throne. Three giantesses lounged on the steps beneath it. Coo\u2019ing for smiles from their king.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no good news or bad news, sire,\u201d the hooded man said as he stopped before Thrym and hooked his thumbs in his belt.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is only news.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, then,\u201d the giant took a swig from his horn. \u201cWhat is the NEWS?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country that call themselves \u2018Nurgle\u2019 have decided to support One Eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thrym swallowed loudly, then tipped the horn to empty it. He then passed it to a giantess who handed it down the line until a smaller giant came and refilled it. Then it made its way back up.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you realize how tired I am of having to go over THERE to see that cyclops!? I am sick of him drinking first, and eating first, and standing first. It has been long since I won this game. It is time for Thrym first.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have still won with fewer,\u201d the hooded man soothed. \u201cDo you not remember The Battle of Six Rings?\u201d<\/p>\n

Thrym sighed, \u201cAh yes \u2026 now THAT was some giant-damned beautiful strategy. Two armies with three rings each met and fought. They knew the winner of that battle would win the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat they did NOT know was a single man from a third had snuck up on the flank,\u201d the hooded man smiled. Even in shadows his teeth shone white.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoom,\u201d Thrym laughed and took a swig from the fresh horn.<\/p>\n

They both laughed for a moment then returned to their conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, do you see any Hannibals in THIS lot?\u201d Thrym questioned directly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do not know about that,\u201d replied the hooded man. \u201cBut I would not underestimate the purple ones. And the dark elves are fierce. The orks are a wildcard. They may blow themselves up with the boulder. Or they may run it directly into a crowd. Or \u2026 they could forget and leave it wherever they make their excrement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thrym scratched his beard.<\/p>\n

A dwarf fell out and scurried away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI assume you will invoke *hefnd* on this \u2018Nurgle,\u2019 as well as Ched Nasad.\u201d the hooded figure prompted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course. I will send a message to Odin.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hooded figure nodded slightly. Maybe it was a bow. He turned and began to walk away.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd one more thing,\u201d Thrym called out and the man paused and looked back over his shoulder.<\/p>\n

\u201cSire?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want YOU to enter the game,\u201d the giant-king instructed.<\/p>\n

The hooded figure turned and continued out of the hall. Again his smile shone through the shadow on his face.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course.\u201d<\/p>\n
